Family Photography: Redefined

I fell in love with photography on the streets of London. Sounds glamorous, maybe? But it wasn’t the glamor of London that drew me in. In fact, it wasn’t about London at all. I was a solo traveler captivated by families enjoying a scoop of ice cream, a little girl cuddled into her dad as he drank an espresso because it was probably her nap time, the awe of vacationers taking in Big Ben.

Being a family photographer was intriguing to me, but I felt it needed to be redefined. Family photos needed to be something more - marked by laughter, curiosity, emotion, and relationship. More documenting and less posing.

Let me share with you what this means for you:

Relaxed

Do you remember the hours before family photos and the frenzy that came with it? Making sure everyone looked perfect and was on their best behavior? Simply put, that is the last thing I want for you. I want your family to enjoy family photos and to feel like they can be themselves throughout the whole experience. I likely won’t ask for “cheeses” but you can be confident that there will be plenty of joyful smiles. And at the end of the day, the perfect shoes for your daughter will fade to the background as her giggles get louder.

Engaging

Throughout our session together, I will have fun prompts and games the whole family can play to capture interactive images. These spur on natural interaction and end up leading into more unprompted fun!

Emotive

I move around a lot during our session in order to get the intimate moments that captivate emotion - you may notice me running in close to take a photo of little hands wrapped around dad’s finger or a quick cuddle when your little one is feeling bashful. And don’t be surprised if I throw in a few questions that prompt sweet moments, too!

If you are on board for capturing this every-day-kind of beauty, I’d love to chat more!
